A fire at a Sevier County cabin sent thick, dark smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.
The fire happened started shortly after 1:00 pm on Wednesday on Hawkeye View Road in Sevierville.
At least two fire departments, Sevier County Volunteer and Caton's Chapel Volunteer, fought the blaze, which was on a winding, narrow mountain road that was difficult to reach.
There were no fire hydrants in the area, and live power lines across the road leading to the cabin kept them from fighting it at first. Fire crews were not able to save the house, but kept the fire from spreading to a nearby cabin and the surrounding woods.
No one was in the cabin, and no one was injured.
There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
