Nearly a year after the accident, a grand jury has indicted a Florida truck driver in a crash that severely injured a Tennessee state trooper.
Eric D. Lewis is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and failure to drive in a single lane.
Lewis admitted to police that he fell asleep at the wheel, before his tractor-trailer slammed into the back of Sergeant Lowell Russell's cruiser.
The fiery crash happened on March 13th, 2012. Russell nearly died.
A passing ambulance crew and Lewis pulled Russell from the burning car.
Lewis was driving for FHS Trucking, based in Orlando.
