Two South Doyle Middle School students are being punished for playing with toy guns at school.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prevents Knox County Schools from disclosing details of the punishment, but a teacher saw two students playing with toy cap guns Thursday and punished them accordingly.

Knox County Schools Spokeswoman Melissa Ogden said this is in contrast to a child who self-reported bringing an Airsoft gun to school on Wednesday. In that incident, the Airsoft gun was confiscated and the child faced no further punishment.
