A 56-year-old man from Campbell County was killed when the Volkswagen Beetle he was driving veered off the side of the road striking several trees and turning over before coming to a stop.
According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Billy Ray Smallwood of LaFollette was killed in the single car accident around 10:45 p.m. Sunday.
Smallwood was the only person inside the Beetle when it wrecked on Flat Hollow Road near the intersection with Powell Valley Shores Circle.
Smallwood was traveling northbound on the road.
