An Alcoa man is behind bars facing several charges for sexual conduct with a minor child.
In a press release, an Alcoa Police Department spokesman says 47-year-old Steven Leroy Myers of Alcoa is being held on bond pending a March 18th court date.
Police received a tip that there was inappropriate sexual conduct between an adult and a child at a residence in Grayson Apartments. Officers went to the residence Friday night to investigate. They then took Myers into investigative custody.
Police first charged Myers with two counts of contributing of encouraging the delinquency of a child and one count of contributing to or encouraging unruly behavior of a child. His bond at that time was $7,500.
After interviewing the victim and witnesses, police added other charges, including statutory rape by an authority figure and soliciting sexual conduct with a minor child. According to the press release, Myers is being held on a $75,000 bond.
The victim and other endangered children have been taken into protective custody by DCS.
Myers is expected to appear in the Blount County General Sessions Court March 18th.
