A dozen students from Gonzaga University are sacrificing their time off to help make a difference in East Tennessee.
The group has spent the week helping a local woman fix up her house as part of an alternative Spring Break program called Operation Backyard.
The students have helped with everything from painting to putting on a new roof.
"It's amazing that we get to be a resource that she wouldn't have if we didn't show up, because the men who work for Operation Backyard couldn't build the roof alone in a week," said Emilie Grant, a
Gonzaga senior.
The students should have all the work completed by Friday afternoon
