Friends and family of a murdered Knoxville man are once again honoring his memory with a game he loved.
Tuesday's baseball game between Central and Halls high schools was played in memory of Chris Newsom. Both teams wore similar jerseys with Newsom's number on the front and his name on the back.
Newsom and his girlfriend, Channon Christian, were carjacked and murdered in 2007.
Money raised by gate fees goes toward a scholarship fund for students at Hall High School.
"It does have a positive and after all of the things we've gone through, we seize on anything that appears to be positive, and I know Chris would be very very honored to see both teams with his name on the back of their shirts and playing in his memory," said Mary and Hugh Newsom, Chris' parents.
A game Monday night also raised money for the Chris Newsom Memorial Scholarship Fund.
