Knoxville native and Austin-East graduate Elston Turner will interview for the Portland Trail Blazers head coaching job for a second time Tuesday.
Turner was in Knoxville briefly to open his annual basketball camp, but Camp Director George Underwood said he had left for Portland and the interview. Underwood said Turner was one of seven to interview for the job in the first round and is one of four asked to return.
Turner played collegiately at Ole Miss and then spent eight seasons playing in the NBA. He has been an assistant coach for the last 14 seasons, most recently with the Phoenix Suns. He was previously an assistant in Portland in the late 1990's.
