Three additional Tennessee women's basketball home games, including high-profile non-conference match-ups with North Carolina, Stanford and Rutgers, will be televised during the 2012-13 season, the school announced Tuesday. That brings the total to 20 regular-season Lady Volunteer games scheduled for TV during the upcoming campaign.
The Tar Heels come to town for a 1 p.m. contest on Dec. 2 that will be carried by SportSouth and FOX Sports Tennessee. The Lady Vols lead the all-time series by a 14-3 count, including victories in the past two meetings. Then-fifth-ranked UNC came to Knoxville in 2007 for the most recent game, with then-top-ranked UT prevailing, 83-79.
Stanford and Tennessee face off at Thompson-Boling Arena at 4 p.m. on Dec. 22, with SportSouth broadcasting the 30th contest between the two schools. UT owns a 22-7 lead in the series, with Stanford winning, 97-80, last season at Maples Pavilion.
The Big Orange women welcome Rutgers to Knoxville on Dec. 30 for a 1 p.m. tussle on SportSouth. The Lady Vols won their eighth in a row over the Scarlet Knights last year in Piscataway, N.J., walking away with a 67-61 triumph. UT leads the series, 18-3.
In addition to the TV information on those three games, UT also released start times for six non-televised home dates. Those games include Nov. 15 vs. Rice (7 p.m.), Nov. 25 vs. Alcorn State (2 p.m.), Nov. 28 vs. Middle Tennessee (7 p.m.), Dec. 28 vs. Davidson (7 p.m.), Feb. 10 vs. Ole Miss (2 p.m.) and Feb. 21 vs. Auburn (7 p.m.). The Feb. 10 date features the "Live Pink, Bleed Orange" game.
Tennessee also is a host site for the NCAA First/Second Rounds, March 23 and 25. March 23 first-round tip times are 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., while the second-round game on March 25 is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Both rounds will be carried on ESPN2 HD.
