Offensive Player of the Week
Anderson County quarterback Micah Hodge was chosen as the USA Today High School Sports Offensive Player of the Week. Hodge completed 31-of-41 passes for 383 and two touchdowns while leading the Mavericks to an important 25-20 win over Hardin Valley.
Hodge injured his knee with about two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of the victory. The senior has been doing therapy and hopes to be able to play in the final regular season game against arch rival Clinton.
The Mavericks need a victory to have a shot at reaching the postseason.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lenoir City safety Ryan Weaver claims the Defensive Player of the Week award. The junior led the team with 15 tackles in the win over Farragut. Weaver also intercepted a pass and forced a fumble.
In addition to his role at safety, Weaver plays wide receiver on the offensive side of the ball and contributes on special teams.
The Panthers take on powerhouse Maryville on Friday.
