Last year, CAK ended Alcoa's season and its seven year reign as state champion.

The Warriors took down Alcoa for the first time ever in the final game of the regular season then repeated the performance in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

On Thursday night, the Tornadoes took back their district title and home-field in the 3A playoffs. Knowing that CAK can put up points in a hurry, Alcoa came into the game planning on going for two on each of its touchdowns.

The Tornadoes converted on their three two-point attempts and those three extra points proved to be the difference in a 31-28 victory.

The teams traded touchdowns on their first two drives with Alcoa taking a 16-15 lead. Jaquez Tyson's touchdown run extended that lead to 24-15 at the half.

Charlie High connected with Davis Howell on a nine yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half to cut the lead to 24-21.

The Warriors took their first lead of the night when High hit Howell again in the endzone in the fourth quarter.

Alcoa picked up a first down on a fake punt and capped a long drive with a Tyson touchdown to recapture the lead for good.

CAK then reached Alcoa territory but two Tornado defenders broke up a Charlie High pass intended for Josh Smith on 4th-and-4 to end the drive and allow Alcoa to run out the clock.

The loss snaps CAK's 15-game winning streak that dated back to last year's regular season win over Alcoa.

Both teams finish 9-1, with Alcoa ending the regular season on an eight game winning streak and claiming home-field through the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

CAK wide receiver Davis Howell is just 14 receptions shy of tying the national record of 329 catches in a career.
