Six Knoxville area teams advanced with wins on Friday night in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

CAK and Alcoa fought to the end in a wild fourth quarter, and just like in the regular season meeting, two-point conversions were a factor.

Ezekiel Koko's 93-yard touchdown run tied the game at 22 to start the fourth.

A Charlie High touchdown pass to Davis Howell and the subsequent two-point conversion put CAK up 38-30 with less than two minutes left.

Alcoa answered with a hook and lateral play for a 67 yard touchdown, but CAK stopped the Tornadoes' two-point attempt to secure the 38-36 win.

Charlie High threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns. Davis Howell hauled in 13 receptions for 168 yards and two scores. That brings Howell's career total to 333 catches, only 16 shy of tying the national record.

The Warriors head to the Tri-Cities area to take on Elizabethton in the semifinals.

Maryville and Dobyns-Bennett have 27 state championships between them but only the Rebels will have a shot at adding to that total after beating the Indians 41-20.

The win was a perfect birthday present for Maryville's Trenton Shuler, who had a huge game. The senior scored on runs of 1 and 86 yards and added a 53 yard touchdown catch. Shuler finished with 170 rushing yards on 12 carries.

Maryville will travel to Murfreesboro to face undefeated Siegel in the semifinals.

Addison Bible rushed for over 200 yards and Coalfield held on to beat Greenback 34-31. The Yellow Jackets play Gordonsville in the semifinals.

Powell had some trouble with No. 6 seed Tennessee High. The Vikings scored first on a 69-yard catch and run by Adam Mitchell and led 10-7 at one point in the third quarter.

The turning point came late in the third with Tennessee pinned deep in its own territory. Jonathan Strozyk picked off a pass and returned it inside the five-yard line to setup Montario Washington's touchdown run on the next play.

On the ensuing kickoff, Powell kick a high, short kick that bounced off a Viking and was recovered by Powell. The turnover led to a Hagen Owenby touchdown strike to Jonathan Strozyk.

Strozyk iced the game with his second interception on Tennessee's next drive and Powell went on to win 31-10. The Panthers go to Columbia for the quarterfinals.

Webb pounded DCA 44-0. Webb advances to the DII-A state championship game. The Spartans will play ECS in Cookeville at 3 P.M. on November 29.

Fulton pulled away from Livingston Academy in the second half with Daryl Rollins rushing for more than 150 yards in a 35-14 win. The Falcons face Giles County on the road next week.

Grace Christian couldn't get the offense going in the second half and the Rams fell to Boyd Buchanan, 35-13, ending their season.
