From Ice Bears-

The Knoxville Ice Bears defeated Huntsville 5-1 in front of a raucous crowd of 2,412.

Less than one minute after a penalty kill by the Ice Bears, Huntsville opened the scoring with a full strength goal by Nick Lazorko. The Havoc shut down Knoxville's power play on its first two attempts but Knoxville executed its third power play opportunity to perfection.

David Segal set up the play behind the net with a pass out to Shaun Arvai who crossed it to Jon Higgins at the point. Higgins then found Segal with a tape to tape pass in front of the net and he added his league leading ninth power play goal.

Only one puck found the back of the net in a penalty filled second period. Knoxville capitalized on its fifth power play of the game. As Arvai blasted a shot from the point, a group of Ice Bears crashed the net. Matt Pierce won the battle in front and floated the puck over the right shoulder of net minder Dan McWhinney. The assists on the goal credited to Arvai and Eric Satim. The second period ended with a 2-1 lead for Knoxville.

The offensive fireworks produced by Knoxville in the third period proved to be too much for Huntsville to handle. Arvai started the scoring at the 7:27 mark as he sniped a shot past McWhinney off of an assist by Tyler Fernandez.

30 seconds later, reigning Defenseman of the Year Mark Van Vliet scored his first goal on home ice this season. A shot by Emery Olauson deflected off of the pad of McWhinney and the puck was swatted out by a Havoc defenseman. Van Vliet read the play perfectly and wound up for a one timer that found the back of the net.

The Ice Bears capped their scoring with a 5-on-3 goal by Jeremy Klaver. Knoxville took advantage of the extra skaters with a point pass from Higgins to Fernandez. He hit Klaver with a tic-tac pass which loaded his cannon as he launched a shot from the circle that blew past McWhinney.
