The Tennessee Lady Vols winning an SEC title has become a common sight after so many of them under Pat Summitt, but the ladies wrapped up their first under new Head Coach Holly Warlick Thursday night in exciting fashion at Thompson-Boling Arena.
It was a senior night, a shot at an SEC title, and a little Lady Vols moment for Holly Warlick all rolled into one.
It was the final regular season home game for seniors Taber Spani and Kamiko Williams, who are now best friends.
Texas A&M had their own big plans for the night though. Their defense forced mistakes, and a layover led to a break and Courtney Williams scored for the Aggies.
The Lady Vols came fighting back. Meighan Simmons pulled up off the jumper to score. She would up with 17 points.
Cierra Burdick has been clutch since she returned from her hand injury. She had a double tonight and scored off the rebound.
The Lady Vols spurted to the halftime lead then fought off A&M to win, 82-72.
