KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies scored five times in the eighth inning, but was unable to overcome a 7-1 deficit and fell to the Jacksonville Suns, 7-6, in the series opener Thursday night at Smokies Park.
Jacksonville scored three runs on Tennessee starter Eric Jokisch in the third inning and four runs in the seventh on reliever P.J. Francescon.
Justin Bour led to Smokies' offensive attack going 2-for-4 on the night. Rafael Lopez went 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in the loss.
