USA Luge is giving its equipment a new look, with hopes of helping American chances at the Sochi Olympics and beyond.
American sliders will be on re-engineered sleds for this Olympic season, with the team unveiling some elements of the new design on Tuesday. USA Luge partnered with Dow Chemical to start the process of building a faster, higher-tech sled in February 2012.
The result, they hope, will be more medals.
USA Luge assistant coach Duncan Kennedy says the sled changes are "a massive shot in the arm" for the team, which won just one silver medal out of the nine singles and doubles competitions on last year's World Cup circuit.
