The University of Tennessee men's and women's basketball teams tied up their shoelaces and hit the hardwood Saturday morning, not for anything in the standings, but had a huge impact in the community.
The Vols played a pickup game at Farragut High School in West Knox County for Hoops for Hope, an organization that helps kids with Down Syndrome.
Emma Bennett, the little sister of former UT baseball player, Ethan Bennett sung the National Anthem.
The event's organizers say it's great for the kids to be able to share the court with people they idolize and see on television.
"The fact that they're playing with UT basketball players would be huge for anybody their age," executive director Kelly Brickey said. "They're the envy of the block today, which is kind of neat for them. They get to have the day in the spotlight."
For their part, the players said they were the lucky ones to share the court with the kids.
They also said they look forward to taking the court at this event every year.
