VOLS RECAP SEASON AT ANNUAL BASKETBALL BANQUET
Members of the Tennessee basketball program gathered at Calhoun's on the River Wednesday evening to celebrate the 2011-12 season.
There were several notable highlights this past season, as the Volunteers under first-year head coach Cuonzo Martin defied an 11th-place preseason SEC projection to win 10 conference games and tie for second place in the final league standings. The Big Orange logged a number of memorable victories, and several individuals enjoyed career seasons as Tennessee posted a record of 19-15 (10-6 SEC).
"The Voice of the Vols," Bob Kesling, served as the master of ceremonies Wednesday, while Martin and Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Dave Hart also offered remarks.
Several awards were handed out based on individual performance during the 2011-12 campaign. A complete list of awards follows:
Academic Achiever Award - Josh Richardson
Burchfield-Moss "Most Courageous" Award - Jarnell Stokes
Assist Leader Award - Trae Golden
Iron Vol "Strength" Award - Jeronne Maymon
Lowell-Blanchard "Most Improved" Award - Yemi Makanjuola
