Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Indiana awarded Tom Crean with a two-year
contract extension prior to the game and then the Hoosiers rewarded their head
coach with a victory in their season opener. Cody Zeller netted 18 points in
No. 1 Indiana's 97-54 thumping of Bryant. Christian Watford tallied 15
points and 15 rebounds, while Jeremy Hollowell and Remy Abell recorded 12
points apiece off the bench for the Hoosiers (1-0), who are ranked No. 1 in
the preseason poll for the first time in 33 years. Athletic director Fred
Glass announced that Crean had been extended to a sold-out crowd prior to
tip-off. The deal will keep Crean in Bloomington through the 2019-20 season.
The institution won just a total of 28 games over Crean's first three years,
but nearly matched that mark last year by going 27-9. The improvement

totaled 23 points and 12 rebounds, Nick Faust had 11 and five while James

Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - The Carrier Classic between the fourth-
ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and the Marquette Golden Eagles has been canceled
due to persistent condensation on the court. Friday's game was to have been
played on the deck of the USS Yorktown and was the season-opening contest for
both teams. The game is not expected to be rescheduled for later in the
season.

Brown finished with 15, C.J. Leslie had 11 and Scott Wood and Thomas de Thaey
each contributed 10 for the Wolfpack (1-0), who are coming off their first
trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2006. Allen Roberts had 16 points to pace
Miami-Ohio (0-1), which is entering its first season under new coach John
Cooper.

at Allen Fieldhouse. Naadir Tharpe supplied 10 points and Travis Releford had
nine points for Kansas (1-0), which lost to Kentucky in last season's national
championship game. The Jayhawks overcame subpar shooting to win their 40th
straight home opener Friday night. Nick Niemczyk paced the Redhawks (0-1) with
14 points. Nino Johnson contributed 12 points and nine rebounds in defeat.

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Mason Plumlee recorded a double-double with 19
points and 14 rebounds on Friday night, as No. 8 Duke opened its season with a
74-55 triumph over Georgia State at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Plumlee also
blocked four shots, while Seth Curry added 15 points and Tyler Thornton netted
13 points for the Blue Devils (1-0), who were coming off a 27- win season that
ended in disappointment, as they were upset by 15th-seeded Lehigh in the first
round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils have now won 95 straight non-
conference home games, the longest such streak in the nation. Devonta White
paced the Panthers (0-1) with 19 points and freshman R.J. Hunter, whose
father, Ron is the Panthers' head coach, added 14 points and 10 boards for a
Georgia State squad that won 22 games last season.

Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - Friday's season-opening game between 10th-
ranked Florida and Georgetown was halted after the first half due to
condensation on the court. The game, which won't count in the standings, was
played on the USS Bataan at Naval Station Mayport. The Gators were leading
27-23 when the drying effort started with the players warming up for the
second half, but the decision was made to call off the contest due to
player safety. It was the second game of the night that became a victim
of condensation. The Carrier Classic between the fourth-ranked Ohio State
Buckeyes and the Marquette Golden Eagles was canceled. That contest was to
have been played on the deck of the USS Yorktown in Charleston, S.C. Both
teams will be back in action Sunday with Florida at home against Alabama
State and Georgetown hosting Duquesne.

Bulldogs. Dexter Strickland added 13 points for the Tar Heels (1-0), who lost
to Kansas in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last season. Donta Harper
and Max Landis ended with 13 points apiece for the Bulldogs (0-1), who went
12-20 last season. Mike Byron tallied 10 points.

make Kevin Ollie's head coaching debut a success as the Connecticut Huskies

Classic. The game was played on a makeshift court in a converted airplane
hangar at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany and signaled the beginning of a new
era for the Huskies (1-0). Ollie took over for Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun, who
retired after guiding the Connecticut program for 26 years. Keith Appling
scored 17 points to pace Michigan State (0-1).

and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead No. 16 Creighton to a 71-51 win over North

for the Bluejays (1-0), who were eliminated in the third round of the NCAA
tournament last season by North Carolina. Tony Mitchell scored a team-high 18
points and pulled down seven rebounds while Alzee Williams and Jordan Williams
each netted nine points for the Mean Green (0-1), who finished 18-14 last

the game early in the second half with a sprained ankle for the Bears (1-0),
who are coming off a season in which they set school records for overall wins
(30) and victories in the Big 12 Conference (12). Pierre Jackson contributed
14 points and 12 assists in the victory. C.J. McCollum netted a game-high 36
points to go with eight rebounds for Lehigh (0-1), which became just the sixth
15th seed all-time to defeat a second seed in the NCAA tournament last season
by upsetting Duke, 75-70.
