Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Five different players scored in double
figures for Colorado State as the Rams came back to post a 72-65 victory over
the Montana Grizzlies in the season opener at Moby Arena.
Colton Iverson led all Colorado State (1-0) scorers with 18 points while
adding eight boards. Daniel Bejarano (12), Dorian Green (11), Greg Smith (11)
and Wes Eikmeier (10) also scored in double digits. Pierce Hornung had a
game-high 16 rebounds.
Keron Deshields paced Montana (0-1) with 17 points while Jordan Gregory added
10.
Montana led 34-27 after shooting 58.8 percent from the floor in the first
half. Colorado State shot a miserable 28.6 percent from the floor but had
only two fewer field goals than the Grizzlies (10-8) to remain within
striking distance.
Colorado State heated up to 48 percent shooting in the second half and
outscored the Grizzlies 20-7 from the free throw line in the period to secure
the win.
The Rams dominated in the paint with a 44-21 advantage in rebounds while
outscoring Montana 17-0 on second chance points.
