According to the latest release from the Associated Press, Indiana remained at
the top, followed again by Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and Michigan.
Indiana beat Bryant to open its season on Friday and received 46 first-place
votes -- three more than the preseason poll -- to retain the top spot.
Louisville, a winner over Manhattan on Sunday, picked up 18 No. 1 tallies --
two fewer than the preseason, while Kentucky earned one top vote -- down one
from the initial poll -- after its narrow win over Maryland on Friday.
Ohio State and Michigan also won over the weekend to keep their places, and
are followed by North Carolina State, Kansas, Syracuse, Duke and Florida to
complete the top 10. Syracuse, after beating then-No. 20 San Diego State in
the lone ranked matchup of the weekend, swapped places with Duke.
The second 10 consists of North Carolina, Arizona, UCLA, Missouri, Creighton,
Baylor, Memphis, UNLV, Gonzaga and Notre Dame. Baylor moved up three spots
from 19th after a pair of blowout wins.
Michigan State, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Cincinnati and San Diego State are the
last five teams ranked this week. UConn is the lone newcomer after its victory
over Michigan State on Friday in Germany. The Spartans tumbled seven places
from a preseason rank of 14th.
Florida State, which was 25th and dropped a 76-71 home decision to South
Alabama, was the only team to fall out of the poll.
A couple of ranked matchups are on tap for Tuesday, as Michigan State faces
Kansas and Kentucky takes on Duke in a doubleheader at the Georgia Dome in
Atlanta. On Wednesday, Wisconsin visits Florida.
