Riverdale, NY (Sports Network) - George Beamon scored 29 points to lead the
Manhattan Jaspers to a 67-56 win over the Hofstra Pride for the Jaspers first
win of the season.
Beamon shot 10-of-15 and pulled down seven rebounds in the Manhattan (1-2)
win. Rhamel Brown added 15 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting display with
eight rebounds while Michael Alvarado contributed 12 points.
Taran Buie scored 22 points off the bench with 10 from the free-throw line in
the Hofstra (3-3) loss. Jimmy Hall recorded a double-double with 12 points and
10 rebounds for the Pride.
The first half ended with Manhattan leading by one with a score of 29-28. The
Jaspers shot 42.3 percent in the first half with Hofstra just behind at 41.9
percent.
In the second half the Jaspers separated themselves from the Pride by shooting
50.0 percent from the field and outscoring Hofstra 38-28.
Hofstra's three-game winning streak was ended despite their bench compiling
30 points to just five from Manhattan's reserves.
