Mobile, AL (Sports Network) - Bandja Sy posted a double-double with 11 points
and 14 rebounds as the New Mexico State Aggies outlasted the South Alabama
Jaguars 58-52 in a non-conference tussle at the Mitchell Center.
Daniel Mullings scored 13 points and Sim Bhullar added 12 off the bench for
New Mexico State (5-4) which has won four of its last five.
Mychal Ammons was the only player in double figures for South Alabama (4-4)
with 16 points. Augustine Rubit had 10 rebounds to go with eight points.
Behind 51.7 percent shooting in the first half New Mexico State took a 31-25
lead into the break. South Alabama lagged behind hitting on 30.3 percent of
their shots from the field.
South Alabama stayed within striking distance throughout the second half but
could never overcome the Aggies. New Mexico State closed out the game shooting
42.9 percent from the filed while holding the Jaguars to 33.3 percent.
The Jaguars lost despite outscoring the Aggies 15-3 from 3-point range. New
Mexico State had a 38-22 edge on points in the paint.
