Forth Worth, TX (Sports Network) - TaShawn Thomas' 19-point, 12-rebound
double-double powered the Houston Cougars to a 54-48 win over the TCU Horned
Frogs in a Lone Star State showdown at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Joseph Young added 12 points for Houston (6-2) which had lost consecutive
games.
TCU was paced by 20 points from Kyan Anderson while Adrick McKinney put in 10
points and ripped down 20 rebounds. TCU had won back-to-back games entering
play.
Houston shot just 32.1 percent from the field, but still led 27-19 at halftime
by holding TCU to 30.8 percent while outscoring the Horned Frogs 8-2 from the
free throw line.
Both teams continued to struggle in the second half with the Cougars draining
36.0 percent of its shots while TCU netted 35.5 percent.
Houston had a slim 43-39 edge on the boards but outscored the Horned Frogs by
a healthy 32-18 margin on points in the paint.
