Oxford, OH (Sports Network) - Raphiael Putney scored 20 points to lift the
Massachusetts Minutemen over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 70-69, in a non-
conference bout at Millett Hall.
Putney knocked down four 3-pointers while pulling in nine rebounds for the
Minutemen (9-3), who have now won six in a row and remain undefeated on the
road. Chaz Williams added 10 points, nine assists, and six rebounds, and Jesse
Morgan tallied 12 points and five assists. Maxie Esho also had a notable
performance, grabbing nine rebounds and blocking four shots.
Allen Roberts shot 5-of-9 from 3-point range en route to 21 points for the
RedHawks (5-7), who saw their two-game winning streak come to an end. Will
Felder and Drew McGhee added 10 points each.
The Minutemen led 37-29 at halftime after making six buckets from beyond the
3-point line in the first half.
In the second half, the RedHawks battled back, opening the frame with a 17-7
run to take the lead. Miami was in control for most of the half, but a jumper
by Williams put the Minutemen back on top, 70-69, with 1:12 remaining. Miami's
last four shot attempts were no good and its comeback victory was spoiled.
The Minutemen held a commanding advantage on the glass, 48-32.
