Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Led by 15 points from Chris Udofia, the Denver
Pioneers took down the Texas State Bobcats, 64-53, in a Western Athletic
Conference clash at Magness Arena.
Brett Olsen added 13 points for the Pioneers (6-7, 2-1 WAC) and Chase Hallam
chipped in 11 points.
For the Bobcats (4-11, 0-3) Vonn Jones led all scorers with 16 points, while
Joel Wright finished with 12 points and Reid Koenen scored 10 points.
Denver shot the ball well to open the contest, hitting 52.4 percent of its
field goal attempts in the first half, including 4-of-9 from beyond the
3-point arc, allowing the Pioneers to take a 31-25 lead into halftime. Texas
State shot just 40.9 percent in the half, including 2-of-7 from 3-point
range.
The Pioneers continued their strong play, shooting 57.1 percent from the field
in the second half, including 5-of-9 from long distance. The Bobcats
continued to struggle, making only 36.4 percent of their field goal attempts.
Texas State was able to keep the game close by outscoring Denver at the
free-throw line 9-4 in the half, but the Pioneers were able to hold on for the
victory and keep the Bobcats winless in conference play.
Denver outscored Texas State in the paint, 28-18. The Bobcats reserves
outscored their counterparts on the Pioneer bench, 39-15.
