Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Carrick Felix tallied 20 points, eight rebounds,
and two blocks to help lead the Arizona State Sun Devils to a 65-56 victory
over the Colorado Buffaloes in a Pac-12 Conference showdown at Wells Fargo
Arena.
Jordan Bachynski was a force in the frontcourt with 16 points, seven rebounds,
and nine blocks for ASU (13-2, 2-0 Pac-12), which extended its winning streak
to a season-long five games. It's already the third time this season Bachynski
has swatted away at least nine shots in a game. Johnathan Gilling recorded a
double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the home team.
For Colorado (10-4, 0-2), Spencer Dinwiddie scored 19 points, Askia Booker had
13 points, and Josh Scott added 10 points and eight rebounds. Although Andre
Roberson was just 2-of-10 from the field for five points, he ripped down 13
rebounds.
Colorado started on a 20-7 run in the game's first 11 minutes, but ASU slowly
climbed its way back to make its deficit just three, 33-30, heading into
intermission.
With the game tied at 41-41 with just over 10 minutes to play in the game,
Chris Colvin drained a 3-pointer to give the Sun Devils the lead, and they
would not surrender that advantage for the rest of the contest.
ASU shot a modest 42.6 percent from the floor, but it forced Colorado into
just 35.3 percent shooting, including a lowly 2-of-19 from 3-point range.
