Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Ryan Anderson scored a game-high 26 points
as the Boston College Eagles defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies, 86-75, in
Atlantic Coast Conference action at Cassell Coliseum.
Anderson was one rebound shy of a double-double in the Boston College (9-6,
1-1 ACC) victory. Lonnie Jackson tallied 22 points and seven rebounds and
Olivier Hanlan chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and five
steals for the Eagles, who have won six of their last seven games.
For the Hokies (9-6, 0-2), Erick Green scored 24 points and dished out nine
assists. Jarell Eddie recorded 21 points and six boards as Virginia Tech lost
its fourth straight game.
Both teams shot 11-of-28 from the floor in the first half, but Boston College
outscored Virginia Tech from the foul line, 8-2, to take a 32-26 advantage
into intermission.
Virginia Tech outshot the Boston College in a high-scoring second half, 64.3
percent to 56.3 percent, but the Eagles were able to pull away by continuing
to parade to the line (12-of-18). They also drained six treys after the break.
Boston College limited itself to only five turnovers while forcing the Hokies
into 17 giveaways. The Eagles outscored the home team 29-0 in points off
turnovers on the night.
