Fargo, ND (Sports Network) - Taylor Braun scored 16 points to lead the North
Dakota State Bison to a 67-55 win over the IUPU-Ft. Wayne Mastodons in a
Summit League matchup at Bison Sports Arena.
Lawrence Alexander registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards for
NDSU (14-3, 5-0 Summit), which has now won six consecutive games. Marshall
Bjorklund hit 7-of-8 shots for 14 points and TrayVonn Wright scored 10 points
while blocking two shots.
Luis Jacobo hit 5-of-12 from behind the arc en route to a game-high 21 points
for Fort Wayne (8-10, 1-3). Frank Gaines added 12 points.
NDSU shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the floor in the first half and led
37-32 at the break. Jacobo had 14 points in the period to keep Fort Wayne
close.
The Bison only managed one 3-pointer in the second half, but once again
shot 57.1 percent from the floor while holding the Mastodons to just 30.8
percent. Fort Wayne was held without a field goal for the final 4:07 of
the contest.
NDSU won in large part to its dominance in the paint, outscoring Fort Wayne
44-16, while holding the Mastodons without a fast-break point.
