San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Jordan Reves scored a game-high 21 points
on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the floor, as he guided the Mavericks of
Texas-Arlington to a 75-67 win over the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in
Western Athletic Conference play at the Convocation Center.
Reves, who shot only 5-of-9 at the free-throw line for the Mavericks (7-6, 2-2
WAC), also cleared eight rebounds as the team snapped a three-game slide. Drew
Charles chipped in 12 points, while Brandon Edwards and Jamel Outler both
dropped in 11 for the visitors.
The Roadrunners (4-11, 0-5) were paced by Kannon Burrage with 17 points, Larry
Wilkins tacked on 16 and Michael Hall III was responsible for 15 points before
fouling out in the squad's fifth consecutive setback.
UTA scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting a
staggering 69.2 percent from the floor in the first half in order to claim a
45-29 advantage at the break.
In the second half the lead went as high as 19 points for the visitors, but
because of just 10-of-17 shooting at the free-throw line in the period, the
Mavericks were actually outscored in the frame by eight before claiming the
victory.
UTA finished the night hitting on 57.8 percent from the floor, helping to
compensate for a mere 15-of-27 showing at the charity stripe.
