St. Bonaventure, NY (Sports Network) - Treveon Graham finished with 17 points
to lead the Virginia Commonwealth Rams to a 72-65 victory over the St.
Bonaventure Bonnies in an Atlantic 10 Conference affair at the Reilly Center.
Troy Daniels added 10 points for the Rams (14-3, 2-0 A-10), while Darius Theus
dished out seven assists. Graham just missed a double-double by pulling down a
game-high nine rebounds.
For the Bonnies (7-8, 0-2) Demitrius Conger led all scorers with 19 points,
while Chris Johnson and Matthew Wright each chipped in with 10 points.
VCU shot 46.4 percent from the field and made 2-of-9 from 3-point range, as
they went into halftime leading 32-29. St. Bonaventure hit on just 35.7
percent of its field goal tries, but connected on 5-of-14 from beyond the 3-
point arc to stay close.
After the break the Rams came out firing, connecting on 59.1 percent of their
field goal attempts, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range. The Bonnies
attempted to keep up by draining 6-of-11 on the perimeter as part of a 44
percent shooting performance in the second half. The Rams never trailed in the
half, as they stayed undefeated in league play while keeping the Bonnies
winless in the A-10.
The Rams dominated play down low, outscoring the Bonnies in the paint, 32-18,
and holding a 35-28 rebounding advantage.
