Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - Mike DiNunno scored 13 points to lead the
Eastern Kentucky Colonels to a 59-52 win over the Morehead State Eagles in
Ohio Valley Conference action at McBrayer Arena.
Tarius Johnson finished with 11 points and seven boards as EKU (14-3, 4-0 OVC)
remained unbeaten at home this season. Eric Stutz and Orlando Williams each
chipped in 10 points.
Drew Kelly registered a double-double for MSU (8-10, 2-2) with 13 points and
10 boards. Bakari Turner added 11 points off the bench for the Eagles, who
have lost back-to-back games.
Neither team shot particularly well in the first half, but Eastern Kentucky
forced 13 MSU turnovers. The Colonels only shot 37.5 percent from the floor
but still led 32-21 at the break.
EKU improved its shooting in the second half, making 42.9 percent of its field
goal attempts, while the Eagles remained under 40 percent. The Colonels led by
as many as 20 points down the stretch, and while the Eagles battled back to
make their deficit single-digits, they could not complete the comeback.
Eastern Kentucky won the transition battle, outscoring MSU 12-2 in fast break
points.
