Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - Mike DiNunno matched a season-high with 24
points as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels downed the Tennessee State Tigers,
76-67, in Ohio Valley Conference action at McBrayer Arena.
DiNunno shot 4-of-10 from 3-point range and 8-of-8 from the foul line while
also dishing out seven assists for EKU (16-4, 6-1 OVC), which has won six of
seven. Corey Walden added 22 points for the Colonels, while Eric Stutz chipped
in 10 points and eight rebounds.
For TSU (12-9, 6-2), Patrick Miller netted 20 points, Jordan Cyphers had 15
points, and M.J. Rhett grabbed 10 rebounds. The loss snapped a season-long
seven-game winning streak for the Tigers.
EKU shot a lofty 66.7 percent from the field in the first half while holding
TSU to just 30 percent, as it took a comfortable 39-24 lead at the break.
The Tigers closed the gap in the second half by outscoring the Colonels,
43-37, but EKU was able to hang on thanks in large part to a 17-of-19 showing
from the foul line in the final 20 minutes.
TSU won the rebounding battle, 31-25, but the Tigers were outscored in the
paint by a 34-20 margin.
