Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Marcos Knight tallied 15 points and five assists
as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders took down the North Texas Mean Green,
72-64, in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Super Pit.
James Gallman shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range en route 13 points off the bench
for Middle Tennessee (17-4, 9-1 Sun Belt), which has won six in a row and 10
of its last 11. JT Sulton and Neiko Hunter added 11 and 10 points,
respectively.
For North Texas (8-13, 3-7), Jordan Williams paced all scorers with 20 points,
Roger Franklin had 14 points, Niko Stojiljkovic recorded 12 points and nine
rebounds, and Tony Mitchell scored 10 points and blocked four shots.
Middle Tennessee outshot North Texas from the field in the first half, 46.4
percent to 33.3 percent, as it went into intermission with a 28-23 advantage.
The Mean Green improved their field goal efficiency to 56 percent after the
break, but the Blue Raiders were even better at 61.5 percent. Middle Tennessee
never surrendered its lead in the second half.
The Blue Raiders scored 20 points off of 19 Mean Green turnovers.
