Harrisonburg, VA (Sports Network) - A.J. Davis recorded a game-high 27 points
as the James Madison Dukes defeated the William & Mary Tribe, 81-71, in
Colonial Athletic Association play at the Convocation Center
Davis made good on 7-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc for the Dukes (14-11,
8-4 CAA) in the victory. Devon Moore registered a double-double with 17 points
and 12 assists. Andre Nation contributed 10 points and four rebounds as JMU
won for the fifth time in its last six games.
For the Tribe (9-13, 3-8), Marcus Thornton scored a team-high 22 points. Tim
Rusthoven finished with 11 points and just one rebound shy of a double-double.
Kyle Gaillard and Brandon Britt added 10 points apiece as William & Mary lost
for the second time in its last three games.
The first half ended with both teams even at 30-30. A.J. Davis dunked the
ball with 24 seconds remaining to tie the game for the Dukes. JMU went into
the intermission tied despite missing all six of its 3-point attempts before
the break and allowing the Tribe to net 6-of-13 from distance.
JMU opened up the second half on an 8-0 run. The hosts made 9-of-14 from long
range in the seconds stanza en route to the 10-point victory
William & Mary was forced into 14 turnovers which JMU converted into 25
points.
