Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Amos Olatayo and Millaun Brown netted 22 and 21
points, respectively, to lead the ULM Warhawks to an 85-73 decision over the
North Texas Mean Green in Sun Belt Conference action at the Fant-Ewing
Coliseum.
Brown missed just one of his 10 field goal attempts and grabbed eight rebounds
for ULM (4-17, 3-12 Sun Belt), which snapped a nine-game losing skid. Trent
Mackey notched 18 points on 5-of-7 from 3-point range, while R.J. McCray added
10 points and six assists.
Jordan Williams and Roger Franklin each scored 22 points for North Texas
(9-18, 4-12), with Franklin also ripping down 11 rebounds and blocking four
shots. Tony Mitchell chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.
while Alzee Williams contributed 10 points off the bench for the Mean Green,
who have lost six of seven.
Franklin and Williams each had 15 points in the first half for North Texas,
which shot 51.9 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and led 42-33
at halftime.
ULM came out of the break scorching from the field, shooting 63.3 percent in
the second half while knocking down 4-of-7 outside shots. North Texas cooled
off and never found a way to stop the surging Warhawks' attack.
ULM won the turnover battle, 16-9, as it improved to 29-24 all-time against
North Texas.
