Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Keifer Sykes scored a game-high 23 points and
Greg Mays posted a double-double as the Green Bay Phoenix held on for a 66-59
victory in a Horizon League conflict at the Wolstein Center.
Mays had 10 points to match 10 rebounds and Alec Brown added 17 points and
five blocks for Green Bay (14-12, 8-5 Horizon) which has won three of its last
four games.
Charlie Lee netted 18 points and Bryn Forbes registered 11 for Cleveland State
(12-15, 4-9) which has lost three straight.
Cleveland State rolled to a 36-27 lead at halftime by shooting 50 percent from
the field, including a 5-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. Green Bay lagged
behind and shot 34.8 percent while knocking down just a single triple.
After halftime the Phoenix heated up to 52 percent shooting while the Vikings
cooled to 33.3 percent. A 13-0 run by Green Bay early in the period brought
the teams even at 40-40. From there no team managed to earn a lead greater
than five points until the Phoenix ended the contest on an 8-0 run to seal
the win.
The teams combined to score 43 points off of turnovers. Green Bay outscored
Cleveland State in the paint, 24-12.
