Irvine, CA (Sports Network) - Daman Starring scored 21 points and pulled down
seven rebounds as the UC Irvine Anteaters crushed the Cal State Fullerton
Titans, 86-66, in a Big West Conference matchup at the Bren Events Center.
Adam Folker accounted for 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor for the
Anteaters (14-13, 8-6 Big West) while Alex Young contributed 16 points and
seven assists. Will Davis II recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11
rebounds, coming up with five blocked shots as well as the team won a second
straight game.
The Titans (12-13, 5-8), losers of five of the last six, were paced by James
Douglas with 14 points off the bench, shooting 4-of-7 behind the 3-point line,
while Alex Harris chipped in 12 points.
Fullerton led by a basket early in the first half, but the team ended up
shooting just 30.8 percent from the floor in the period, en route to a 38-24
deficit at the break.
The second half saw UCI knock down 62.1 percent from the field, including 7-
of-12 beyond the arc, as the Anteaters cruised to the 20-point win.
Irvine won the battle of the boards, 44-30, which helped the squad to overcome
16 turnovers on the night.
