Albany, NY (Sports Network) - O.D. Anosike hung up yet another double-double
and hit a pair of crucial free-throws as the Siena Saints outlasted the
Radford Highlanders, 65-57, in overtime during a BracketBusters affair at the
Times Union Center.
Anosike finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds, as well as eight turnovers,
for his 16th double-double of the season for Siena (7-21). Davis Marten scored
18 points off the bench, Trenity Burdine tacked on 13 and Rob Poole registered
12 for the Saints who ended a five-game losing streak.
R.J. Price scored 18 points on just 7-of-21 shooting to pace Radford (12-17)
which has lost three straight.
Radford went into the locker room leading 25-23 after holding Siena to just
seven field goals in the first 20 minutes.
After halftime it was Siena's turn to dominate on defense as it held the
Highlanders to just nine field goals on 34.6 percent shooting. Still the
Saints trailed, 54-49, with 22 seconds remaining. Poole then hit a 3-pointer
to bring the Saints within two. With ten seconds left Siena forced a turnover
and Poole attempted a jumper on the other end. The shot was off the mark but
Anosike ripped down an offensive rebound and was fouled on the ensuing
put-back attempt. Anosike hit both free throws to even the game. Poole
collected a steal on Radford's next possession but missed a potential
game-winning 3-point attempt as time expired forcing overtime.
A 7-1 spurt midway through the extra session separated the Saints enough as
they held on for the win by hitting 6-of-8 from the free-throw line in the
final minute.
Siena overcame a game-high 17 turnovers by owning a 42-33 edge on the glass.
Radford went just 1-of-11 from the field in overtime and was outscored 21-9
from the free-throw line overall.
