Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Kyle Anderson tallied a career-high 21
points and four blocks to go with 15 rebounds, leading the UCLA Bruins past
the Arizona State Sun Devils in overtime, 79-74, in Pac-12 Conference action
at Pauley Pavilion.
Jordan Adams scored 22 points for UCLA (21-7, 11-4 Pac-12), while Shabazz
Muhammad poured in 21 points. Larry Drew II tied a career-high with 13 assists
for the Bruins, who have won three straight games.
Jahii Carson recorded 22 points and seven assists for ASU (20-9, 9-7), which
has lost back-to-back games. Jonathan Gilling netted 18 points, Carrick Felix
logged 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, while Jordan Bachynski chipped
in 10 points for the visitors.
ASU carried a 41-39 lead into intermission by shooting 53.3 percent from the
field in the opening 20 minutes. UCLA shot a modest 43.3 percent in the first
half but kept the game close by draining all eight of its free throws.
The game remained tight throughout the second half. With UCLA leading by five
with under three minutes to play, ASU ripped off a 6-0 run to take a 68-67
lead on a traditional three-point play by Carson. After Adams drilled a 3-
pointer for the Bruins, the Sun Devils tied the game again on a Carson layup
with 39 seconds remaining. After UCLA missed a potential game-winning jumper
in the waning seconds, the contest went to overtime.
In the extra session, ASU scored the first bucket, but UCLA put up five
straight points to go ahead for good.
The game consisted of eight ties and 16 lead changes. UCLA outscored ASU at
the foul line, 15-9.
