Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Derek Thompson recorded 14 points and five
assists as the Eastern Michigan Eagles defeated the Miami-Ohio RedHawks,
58-47, in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at
Quicken Loans Arena.
Daylen Harrison contributed 11 points and five rebounds for the Eagles
(16-17). Da'Shonte Riley and Glenn Bryant added 10 points apiece. EMU will
advance to face the Western Michigan Broncos in the quarterfinals.
For the RedHawks (9-22), Will Felder was two-rebounds shy of a double-double
with 14 points. Jon Harris also chipped in 14 points but was the only other
player in double-figures.
In the first half, Miami knocked down 8-of-17 field goals including 5-of-9
from long-range. EMU made 11-of-23 from the floor including 4-of-10 beyond the
arc, en route to the 28-25 advantage at the break.
In the second, Miami shot 6-of-23 from the floor and 8-of-12 from the free
throw line. EMU made 8-of-21 from the field and 14-of-20 from the foul line.
EMU controlled the boards, 31-24, and dominated points in the paint, 24-10.
