Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Roy Devyn Marble scored 24 points, dealt out
six assists and swiped four steals as the Iowa Hawkeyes coasted to a 68-52
decision over the Indiana State Sycamores in the first round of the National
Invitational Tournament at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Aaron White posted a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds for Iowa
(22-12), which will take on Stony Brook in the next round.
Justin Grant paced Indiana State (18-15) with 16 points. Jake Odum finished
with just three assists to six turnovers in the season-ending setback.
The Sycamores shot 42.3 percent from the field and netted 11 fast-break points
in the opening 20 minutes, but Iowa still took a 31-30 lead into the break
despite a poor, 7-of-13 showing at the charity stripe.
The Hawkeyes hit on only 37.9 percent of their attempts from the floor after
the break, but they still managed to pull away as Indiana State went 1-of-10
from 3-point range.
Iowa held a dominant, 42-27 edge in the rebounding battle.
