Maui, HI (Sports Network) - The 25th-ranked Maryland Terrapins will look to continue their fast start to the season, as they take on the Chaminade Silverswords in the first round of the Maui Invitational tonight at Lahaina Civic Center. The victor of this game will get the right to clash with either Cincinnati or Vanderbilt in the second round on Tuesday.

The Terps opened the season with three straight home games and that resulted in three blowout victories. Maryland first defeated Charleston Southern (89-51) to open the season before capturing a 71-42 victory over Fairfield. Most recently, the Terps capped off their homestand with an 82-55 trouncing of New Hampshire on Friday.

As for Chaminade, it is a NCAA Division II member and the host of this annual tournament. The Swords lost a majority of their key players from last year's 15-12 club, so don't expect them to be very competitive in their season opener tonight.

With regard to the all-time series, Maryland holds a 2-0 lead over Chaminade and that includes a 98-69 victory in the most recent meeting in the 2005 Maui Invitational.

The Terps shot a sizzling 56.6 percent from the field and held UNH to a dismal 35.5 percent effort from the floor, as they cruised to victory on Friday. Maryland also had success from long range (5-of-11) and at the foul line (17- of-23), while handing out 23 assists and committing just 10 turnovers. Landon Milbourne headed the charge with a 24-point effort and he is now averaging a team-high 16.7 ppg for the season. Eric Hayes added 15 points, and Sean Mosley recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists in the win.

The Swords averaged 79.3 ppg a season ago, but their top four scorers from that club are now gone. The team's top returnee is Shane Hanson, a UC Davis transfer that turned in 10.8 ppg and 7.3 rpg in six games for Chaminade last season. Cartier Carter provided the team with a spark off the bench with 8.6 ppg last season and he figures to carry a bigger load this season. Some new faces help fill out the rest of the roster.
