Boca Raton, FL (Sports Network) - Alonzo Harris ran for 127 yards and three
touchdowns, as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns wrapped up the regular season with
a 35-21 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Sun Belt Conference play
at FAU Stadium.
Terrance Broadway threw for a touchdown and added another score rushing for
the Ragin' Cajuns (8-4, 6-2 SBC), who notched their third straight win since
falling to fifth-ranked Florida last month.
Owls (3-9, 2-6) receiver William Dukes finished with nine catches for 204
yards and two receiving touchdowns in a losing effort. Graham Wilbert threw
for 379 yards and two touchdowns, although he was also intercepted twice.
It did not take long for the scoring to get started. Broadway broke loose for
a 77-yard touchdown scamper on the third play from scrimmage. FAU answered
right back on its first offensive snap, as Wilbert found Dukes for a 75-yard
scoring strike to even the score at 7-7 just over a minute and a half into the
game.
The score would remain that way until the final minute of the opening frame,
when FAU running back Jonathan Wallace capped a 13-play, 95-yard drive with an
11-yard touchdown run.
The Ragin' Cajuns knotted it back up at 14-14 on Harris' nine-yard TD burst
midway through the second quarter.
Louisiana regained the lead in the final seconds of the half, as Broadway
connected with James Butler for a 15-yard touchdown pass and catch to finish
off a 10-play, 96-yard drive.
Harris pushed the margin to 28-14 with a two-yard TD plunge midway through the
third quarter.
FAU finally stopped the bleeding early in the fourth quarter on Wilbert's 42-
yard scoring strike to Dukes to make it a 28-21 game.
However, Harris answered with his third touchdown run midway through the
fourth quarter, this time from two yards out, and the Ragin' Cajuns held
strong the rest of the way.
The Owls lost by two touchdowns despite holding a 528-452 edge in total
offense for the game. They turned the ball over three times in addition to
going 0-for-3 on fourth down.
