Great pic of Vols' touchdown catch wins photo of the year

An amazing shot of UT wide receiver Marquez North was voted Best Photograph in USA Today's Ad Meter: Year in Sports contest.

The photo, taken by USA Today photographer Jim Brown, was taken as North dove into the endzone for a touchdown catch in the Vols' near miss against Georgia.

Here's how Brown described getting that perfect sports photo, "I've been shooting for US Presswire and USA TODAY for 6 years this month and each time I go [out] I'm trying to improve, I'm always trying to look for something different and touchdown pictures have gotten to the point where they're so common they don't always have as much visual impact as the jubilation does after the fact," Brown said. "I found two things that you have to try to anticipate if you're working a corner on the field: You never know if the quarterback's going to your corner or the opposite corner — the way I prepare for that is instead of going behind the endzone for touchdowns [...] I'm between the goal line and the back of the endzone. If I get to the side of the endzone I can I work up on the side [which is] where this play took place. It's the kind of thing I've learned through years of shooting: When those plays come they're coming right to that corner and you never know what you're going to get."
