The USA Today Coaches Poll ranks the Tennessee Lady Vols no. 14 in the nation.
USA Today released the poll Thursday. The Associated Press (AP) has not released its Top 25 preseason poll et.
The Lady Vols' position places them third in the SEC behind South Carolina (no. 3) and Mississippi State (no. 11). Tennessee returns four starters for the 2016-2017 season, but a run of injuries has hurt them a bit in terms of depth.
"I think all of them really feel like they need to step up and I do think they have," head coach Holly Warlick said. "If you followed us last year very closely, and you come in practice now, again, it's a totally different feel, and as a coach, I don't walk in practice this year thinking who is going to show up, who isn't going to show up, they're all ready to go."
Warlick said even with some possible challenges, this team has a different, more mature feel than the previous season.
The Lady Vols open their season November 11 at James Madison University.
