Courtney Lyle

When the opportunity to move back to the city that taught me to love sports presented itself, it was a no-brainer. I joined the WBIR Sports team in September of 2013 after working as a sports anchor at our sister station 13WMAZ in Macon, Georgia.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee and am so thankful to be back on Rocky Top. During my time at UT, I worked with the Athletic Broadcasting department. I covered all Lady Vol sports and worked on shows like "Inside the Orange" and "The Pat Summitt Show".

I also had the opportunity to get network experience at ESPN. I interned for two summers in Bristol, Connecticut as an event production intern. While I was there, I worked on coverage of the 2010 World Cup, Major League Baseball and the Xgames.

You could say I was a tomboy growing up: ballet, cheerleading and other typical "girl stuff" wasn't my thing. I found a way to mesh my love for sports and broadcasting into a career in high school thanks to the late Mark Madison. Our high school television station, WBHS9, put me on the path to being a sportscaster and I am so grateful for that experience every day.

While covering games are definitely a fun aspect of the job, my favorite part is telling the stories of athletes and coaches that make the sport what it is. A win is a win and a loss is a loss, but when you know what the players have gone through to get there it makes it that much more special.

The job can be hectic at times, but there is nothing else in the world I would rather be doing.

I'm always looking for a good story! If you have an idea, feel free to send me at note:
