Keys to the Game: Alabama

#1 Alabama is favored in Saturday's game, but there are some keys to victory for the Vols

Jayson Swain, VFL and host of The Swain Event on 1180 The VLZ has three keys to the game for Tennessee as they prepare for their 3:30 p.m. kickoff against #1 Alabama.

The first key? The Defensive Line.

"Last year, Tennessee recorded five sacks against Alabama," Swain said, "giving Tennessee every chance to win that football game."

Swain looks for Derek Barnett to continue his dominance as well.

"It's going to take another effort from him against Alabama and that offense, playing against freshman quarterback, Jalen Hurts. He can really disrupt the timing."

Next up, Swain looks at Tennessee's turnovers.

"21 fumbles on the year, fourth from last in the NCAA for turnovers, this has to be corrected for Tennessee to have a chance against Alabama."

The Tide does a great job at turning offensive mistakes into points with nine non-offensive touchdowns.

But for the Volunteer offense, there's the question now, of what the backfield will look like.

"Alvin Kamara is coming off of an unbelievable performance on the road against Texas A&M. Jalen Hurd is back, how do you use both of them?" Swain asked.

Key number three, Tennessee will have to "play to win."

"Go for it on 4th down, take chances. This is the best team in the country coming into our house, so play to win. Let it all fly."
