Tim Tebow signs minor league contract with New York Mets

Former Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow will sign a minor league contract with the New York Mets, according to multiple reports.

The news comes eight days after Tebow worked out in front of 28 MLB teams in Los Angeles.

Tebow, 29, will participate in the Mets' instructional League, according to a tweet from the Mets' official Twitter account.

The former Florida Gators and Denver Broncos quarterback last played baseball at Nease High School from 2004-2005.
