Jennifer Nettles to sing National Anthem at Battle at Bristol

BRISTOL - Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Jennifer Nettles will sing the National Anthem prior to the kickoff of Saturday’s Battle at Bristol.

Nettles, 41, is known for her role as lead vocalist of the duo Sugarland alongside Kristian Bush.

"The spectrum of talent on grounds for this event is just amazing," said Bristol Motor Speedway General Manager Jerry Caldwell.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Virginia Tech is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Saturday, and ABC will broadcast the game.

Saturday’s game is expected to shatter the attendance record for a college football game with around 150,000 fans expected at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

In December, Nettles played the role of Dolly Parton’s mother in NBC’s TV movie “Coat of Many Colors.” The Douglas, Ga., native will retain her role as Avie Lee Parton in a sequel entitled “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.”

Nettles married her husband Justin Miller at Blackberry Farm in Blount County.
